In a world that seems to change so rapidly ( sometimes for good reasons, other times not so good), continuity is a lost art. Integrity and honour are too frequently expendable. The world is in constant flux, so the best thing we can do is simply to continue with what is consistently true.
The apostle Paul instructed Timothy to be diligent in representing the Lord Jesus Christ to the approval of God, to be a worker who won't be ashamed. Timothy should rightly divide the word of truth and shun profane and idle babblings. (2 Tim. 2:17; 4:10)
We're seeing the increase in profanity and 'doctrines of devils' across the world today. People have strayed from the truth of the Bible, refuting its authourity and authenticity as the Word of God.
Some have strayed from the faith, others would follow. Even for some who stayed in the fold, idle chatter and disputes, selfishness, love of money, slander, and boasting would persist. (2 Tim. 3:1-5)
The Word of God is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, and for instruction in righteousness; (2 Tim. 3:16) it always was and always will be. It shows us how to be "complete, and thoroughly equipped for every good work"(v 17).
God's Word has been tried, tested, and proven to be true in and for every generation and dispensation. The psalmist declared that the only way we can change our sinful ways "is by taking heed to the Word of God."
