Isaiah 53 is a remarkable messianic prophecy - a foretelling about Jesus our Messiah. Jesus' life, death, and resurrection fulfilled what Isaiah foretold. He described Christ as "despised and rejected by men, a Man of Sorrow and acquainted with grief"(v.3).
Christ experienced pain firsthand and His suffering gives us strength and courage when we're facing troubles. He struggled for survival like others in His community.
Living under Roman rule, He knew oppression; as His ministry unfolded He experienced rejection, ridicule, torture, humiliation, and death.
Jesus knew what it meant to suffer, He is touched with our suffering and infirmities. Isaiah foretold, "He shall see the labour of His soul, and be satisfied. By His knowledge My Righteous Servant shall justify many, for He shall bear their iniquities" (v. 11).
Christ triumphed even when suffering came, and transformed suffering into healing - "by His stripes we are healed" (v. 5). He provides forgiveness, redemption, and salvation. He managed suffering supernaturally, just as He charges us to do.(1 Pet. 4:12-19)
