I've been sewing bags ever since I was gifted a sewing machine for Christmas. There are times when I'm working on a bag and it's just not coming together as it should. When this happens I have to redo whatever area of the bag I'm having issues with. To do this, I need to pull every thread that I already stitched using a seam ripper, a nipper, a pair of scissors or whatever sewing tool that will get the job done. In short, I spent time putting something together that is not working how it should, so I have to take it apart and redo it.
Many of us have professions or hobbies where this needs to be done. Should we abandon something we built if it's not working right, or should we work to bring it to perfection. That decision is solely ours. We can do whatever we want with what we created.
If we love what we do and what we created, we find a way to fix what went wrong to preserve it. We will take whatever amount of time that is needed to get it to where it needs to be. It makes us happy to do this and the finished product brings us great joy.
So it is with our God. We are all uniquely created by Him. He is the Potter and we are the clay. He molds us and shapes us into who He wants us to be in Him. Sometimes we go our own way, outside of his will for our lives. Then we run into all sorts of problems. Problems that stem from within us that only He alone can fix. He understands what is needed to get us on the right track to His finished work.
We need to trust in His plan for our lives. He is the all knowing God that formed us. We are all a work in progress. Philippians 1:6 tells us that He who began a good work in us will complete it until the day of Jesus Christ.
Isaiah 64:8
But now, O Lord, You are our Father; We are the clay, and You our potter; And all we are the work of Your hand.
