In a previous post, I shared about using our God given creative gifts to help ourselves. Some of us are very creative and are very good at working with our hands without even giving it a second thought.
My mother was a seamstress, I say was, because she's not doing it anymore. She's in her 80's. Every year especially during the summer, to prepare for back to school, I would help her with little things. Sewing on buttons, hemming uniforms with my hands etc. I even had to stop at the haberdashery to buy small sewing items such as zippers, thread, sewing needles, buttons and so on. I never had an interest in sewing even though I knew the basics from growing up around it.
One day I was sitting at home and feeling like I needed to be doing something. I got to work and made myself a tote bag from a denim pants I was no longer wearing. I had to use my hand to sew because I had no sewing machine. I was out with it one day and some one asked where I got it and complimented on how it looked.
If I need something altered or fixed, I always thought, I should get a sewing machine. I've said it so many times but never bothered to get one.
This past Christmas when I opened my gift from my kids it was a sewing machine. I feel like the Lord Himself directed them to get me this sewing machine. I have not been around one for many years, so when I opened it, I was wondering how I was going to get it set up.
I was very excited but I couldn't even remember how to thread the machine. Though it came with a book, the words were way too small so I took to the website of the manufacturer and was able to do it. I also called my mom, whose mind is still working excellently, thank God for His mercies. The threading was completed.
I was thinking of buying a cover for it and went in search online for one. The Lord reminded me that I could just make one myself. So the first thing I made was a cover for the machine.
Two months after that and I have become a denim bag maker. God is truly amazing. He will give you the desires of your heart just like His word says. He is always faithful.
