Book of Life

I had a hunger to know what was in the Bible long before I got saved. I had questions and I thought it would be best to go directly into God's word for myself rather than solely depending on preachers. I read from the beginning to the end more than once. While reading I would occasionally put the Bible down to digest what I read.  Some of what I was reading did not sit well with me at the time. Back then I didn't understand the importance of praying for wisdom and understanding before reading.

I came across scriptures that made me cry and also some that had me thinking about where someone like me fit into this great plan of life. I started thinking about my ethnicity and wanted to know what was being said about us. I came across a verse about not paying attention to genealogy. I read and most likely misunderstood what it meant but my understanding of it then caused me to turn my focus from that and towards what edifies to the glory of God.

I have noticed that there is a difference between reading the Bible as an unsaved person and reading it after you have been saved. This is why our understanding of something we've read so many times before, becomes so clear all of a sudden. I have read so many scriptures before but didn't know what they were actually saying. It's like a veil that has been lifted and you begin to see things clearly.

Even though one may go through the entire old and new testament several times, we never truly complete reading the Bible. It's not a book that you put away and never have to read again because you went through it. It is constantly speaking to a believer even when it's not in our hands. It is the living and inspired word of God and is filled with knowledge of the past , present and future. It is the only book that you can open where you will be spiritually directed to exactly what you needed in that moment. It directs, discerns, corrects, encourages, comforts and is filled with promises that has been and will continue to be fulfilled.

There is no book like the Holy Bible. Do make time to read it everyday.

Hebrews 4:12

For the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.
