In Seasons Of Loss

We all face seasons of loss during our journey here on earth. It's a time for many when there are no right words to hear, as comforting as they may sound to those who say them. This especially happens when a loved one is suddenly taken from us. It's those times when you're not able to say good bye as you would during sickness. Time that is spent by their bedside to comfort and encourage them in the Lord if they are believers and if they are not, to share the gospel and pray for their salvation. Just being present if words can't be uttered is important during these times.

Though we know that we're all going to die one day, it does not lessen the overwhelming pain we feel when a loved passes. Losing them leaves an emptiness that is still unbearable.

There was a time when I was afraid of this particular topic. I didn't want to talk about it. It's not a matter of not facing these facts, it's that I was nervous about when my time would come. What will the process be like? Will it be very painful? I was wondering about everything concerning it which will be unfamiliar to each of us because it will only happen once. Just as with the coming of the Lord.

When my husband passed away years ago, I was not even able to help with the arrangements. I couldn't  look at his body. I've been to numerous funerals and never had that reaction. After the funeral, it was difficult for me to pass the cemetery where he was laid to rest. I kept thinking of how he was just laying there underneath dirt. I thank God for His tender mercies during that chapter. He really held my hand and I began to see things the way He wanted me to.

The Lord has brought me so far from then to now, where I'm able to talk about it and even anticipate being present with Him after this life here on earth. I found myself with my hands raised in praise and worship after getting a diagnosis from a cardiologist. I was thinking that I know there is nothing impossible with God and that He can heal me, but if it is that He is ready for me then I'm going to still glorify His name.

God cares about what we go through here on earth. He cares about every aspect of our lives. He knows what it is like to lose a loved one. He knows about what we will encounter   because He came here in the flesh and went through them as well. His word tells us that He is near to the broken hearted (Psalms 34:18). Jesus also said that those who mourn will be comforted in Matthew 5:4

If you're in a season of loss, this is the time to cling to what the Lord has to say in His word concerning what you are going through. We thank God for support from fellow believers and everyone else He uses, who pray and help to see us through these most difficult times.  He really does heal the broken hearted and binds up our wounds. (Psalms 147:3) The Lord will carry us. He is our refuge and strength in times of trouble Psalms 46:1.

II Corinthians 1:3-4

Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort,  who comforts us in all our tribulation, that we may be able to comfort those who are in any trouble, with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God.
