The Love of Hate

There is so much hate being displayed in this day and age that it's now becoming normalized.

The hate of other races which has been ongoing. A lot of it is inherited. It's picked up right from those who came before us and passed down to those who follow. Thank God for those who escape its trap.The hate of people who look different from us. The hate of people with different views from us. Whether it's political views, religious views or whatever views we do not agree on. Things go quickly from disagreement to hate.

This level of hate leads to people getting hurt both physically and emotionally. Some even lose their lives because of it. Groups of people are oppressed and mistreated in some of the worst ways just because they are different. They find it difficult to go about their daily lives, which is challenging enough, with all kinds of sickness, diseases and  issues they have no control over. They also have to be mindful of getting attacked just for existing.

There is hate among groups including those who are followers of Christ. Hate for people of different denominations, which makes no sense because there is no such thing with Christ. Christ is not divided. It's deep rooted and disturbing because hating someone that looks different from you , when they are not responsible for their existence is not Christlike! Some of the very people exhibiting this kind of hate are present in church on a Sunday, to worship the very God who created the people they hate. How does that work?

There is also hate among people of the same race and cultures. Hate in communities, workplace hate, turf hate, family hate. There's even hate in sports.  There's also hate of self which is projected onto others.  Let's face it. Human beings love to hate. People get up everyday just to express it. There doesn't even need to be a trigger.

I read a book when I was a teen that likened hate to one's blood having impurities that needed to be purged. It brings to mind a well known saying that is used when two or more people have hostility towards  each other for a prolonged period. They are referred to as having "bad blood" between them. The book suggested that when these impurities in the blood are removed it produces better thoughts and attitudes overall.

There is hate of all things good and Godly. Jesus experienced the worst kind of hate. His love for us brought Him to earth for our redemption. He went about doing good but was hated for it. He was hated without a cause. (John 15:25) His unconditional love for us had Him nailed to the cross so we could be saved!

To hate in return is not a solution. Hate cannot be driven out with hate. It will take the direct opposite of hate for change to take place. Only love can drive out hate. It's way past time for us to get on the other side of this. The only thing we should all be hating is evil!

I Corinthians 13:4-6

Love suffers long and is kind; love does not envy; love does not parade itself, is not puffed up; does not behave rudely, does not seek its own, is not provoked, thinks no evil; does not rejoice in iniquity, but rejoices in the truth;
