What exactly do we need to be saved from? There's so much. In the Old Testament, God often saves His people from their enemies (Josh. 6:1-20; 1 Sam. 17:46-50). He saved them physically as listed in the New Testament chapter on Heroes of Faith - Heb. 11.
However, God's ultimate plan for the human race was spiritual and eternal salvation that would regenerate the spirit and deliver the soul. His complete salvation will liberate us for time as well as for eternity.(John 3:16)
In personal evangelism I am often asked the above-mentioned question by people who are skeptical and I totally understand. Everyone face troubles and trials, whether they believe in Christ or not.
Therefore, the Christians must make it clear that only Jesus Christ can save us from sin's bondage and sin's penalty. Eternal salvation is impossible without Him, this is guaranteed by believing His Gospel. (Rom. 1:16)
With God, all things are possible. (Matt. 19:23; 25; 26)
