The Believer's Armour

The Apostle Paul often used the metaphor of being a soldier to describe how christians ought to live (2 Tim. 2:3-4; Phil. 2:25). Isaiah also assigned pieces of spiritual armour to the believer. This is quite appropriate for us because we're all involved in the most important warfare.

We put on each pieces of armour through prayer and they provide strength as well as protection.

The breastplate of righteousness and the loin girdle of truth are things that the devil cannot stand before. The shield of faith quenches every fiery dart; it's only those darts that are relevant to our refining that will touch us.

Our headpiece, the helmet of salvation will protect us in the battlefield of our mind. We must fill our minds with God's Word which is the Spirit's sword, and speak them against Satan's lies.

From head to toe the believer is protected from wickedness and from the devil himself. We need not worry, as we wear the shoes of the gospel of peace.

No part of the spiritual soldier is open to the assaults of the enemy  - unless you forget to put that armour on. That's the reason Paul instructs us to put on the whole armour (Eph. 6:13)
