Have you ever shared a diagnosis with someone and tell them you're trusting God to see you through and they ask that you use wisdom? This sometimes comes from believers. Could it be that I'm not understanding what they mean or are they saying there's Jesus and then there's reality? What is wisdom for a believer?
I just want to state that if the wisdom being referred to does not include putting all my trust in the Author and Finisher of my faith then I do not want or need it.
Please note I'm not saying we should not go to the doctor. God's divine intervention comes in different ways. What I am saying is since living and dying is not up to them, why would we place our trust in their ability and not in the One with the answer. Can we do both things at the same time? Have faith in God and trust that the doctors know what they're doing? We often say thank God for giving the doctors wisdom and rightly so. There are limits where they're concerned. God is all powerful!
If Jesus is telling us to trust Him and we do, is that not wise? Would it not be unwise to doubt that Jesus can help us through anything? James 1:6 tells us that we are to ask in faith without doubting. It would certainly not be wise to doubt that He is in control of all things at all times.
Why would we sing "there's nothing impossible with God if we do not believe it? Are we only believing when everything appears okay? It's like saying God is faithful but... There should never be a but or however, after proclaiming God is faithful. He either is or He's not! We either trust Him or we do not.
What did believers do centuries ago before modern medicine and medical inventions? They called on God! Nothing should take the place of our reliance on God. Only He can help us! What would we do if we were living as believers in those days?
Now we're not on this earth forever, we are going to die some day, Hebrews 9:27. There will be a time for many of us where sickness may lead to death. This happens whether one has the best care team or not. When the Lord is ready for us, it's just our time to go. On the other hand, if it's not our time, there's no amount of sickness or anything else that can take us before He's ready. We are not going a minute sooner or later than when He's ready.
It is not for us to worry about how and when. He wants us to come to Him and trust him with everything. Jeremiah 17:7 says blessed is the man who trusts in the Lord and whose hope is the Lord.
He made us and there's nothing that can go wrong with us that He cannot fix. Bless His holy name! He's been scanning and detecting before MRI machines were invented. He does not do half of a job. He detects and corrects for me all the time. I shouldn't even be here right now but here I am by God's grace and mercy to encourage us to trust Him only and completely. All other ground is sinking sand.
Psalms 62:8
Trust in Him at all times, you people; Pour out your heart before Him; God is a refuge for us. Selah
