My thought process led me to a childhood friend recently, and as I was reminiscing about some things from our youthful days, I was reminded to pray for her. I didn't understand how she just popped up in my thoughts so suddenly. I also decided to reach out to her to see how she was doing. After my message she called and we did some catching up and spoke about how good God has been to us. Now while she was also acknowledging how Good God is, she also revealed she had not been saved. I encouraged her to take that most important step and shared my testimony.
The following day I woke up just thinking about the conversation and what I shared and started giving thanks and praise to the Lord for all He has done for me. This was just before reading the word of God for the day. I opened the Bible app and Psalms 103 was what was waiting to be read. "Bless The Lord Oh My Soul." As I read on and got to the third verse "Who forgives all your iniquities and heals all your diseases," which is exactly some of what was shared with my friend, I paused in amazement of God's Holy Spirit and how everything was unfolding. I had to stop reading for a moment and just be in the Lord's presence with praise.
When I got back to reading it was just more of the same, verse after verse. By the time I got to the last verse the revelation was so amazing. The Lord prepared me from the day before reading this particular chapter, to actually bless His Name and not just read it. My soul was doing exactly that before, during and after reading His word, as written by the Psalmist.
The tenth verse tells us that "He has not dealt with us according to our sins, nor punished us according to our iniquities." The eleventh verse goes on to tell us why. "For as the heavens is high above the earth, so great is His mercy towards those who fear Him."
God is an awesome God and worthy to be praised sincerely. Verse two tells us not to forget His benefits. Even on our worst days, when we think about all that the Lord has done for us, then praise will not just be a once a week thing but something we do every day. It becomes enveloped in us as believers. We shouldn't have to be prompted to praise.
Psalms 103:1
Bless the Lord, O my soul; And all that is within me, bless His holy name!
Please join me in praying for my friend's salvation and use her as a point of contact for anyone you may know who is not saved.
Prayer
Lord thank you for your free gift of salvation. Please remember our unsaved loved ones and friends, guide their hearts and minds to you. Help them to understand that the only way to you God, is through your son Jesus and that they cannot be saved just by being good. We give you thanks for the transformation work you will be doing in their lives for your glory. In your precious name we pray, Amen.
