The Phillipian christians had helped provide for Paul's needs sacrifially on more than one occasion. Lest they had any concern that their own needs might go unmet, Paul assured them, God would provide for all their needs.
The one who owns "the cattle on a thousand hills," the world and "all its fulness" has limitless resources (Psa. 50:10-12). He is pleased to to provide for His people who honour Him and depend on Him with childlike faith ( 1 Pet. 5:7).
Paul had learned to trust God in times of plenty as well as in times of scarcity, and to be content with His provision. He had learned to appreciate God's faithfulness and ability to sustain those who trust Him.
