Christless Christianity

We are living in times where so many say they are Christians but do not seem to know Christ at all. Their lives are lived based on society's standards with no regard for anything spiritual. Some go to church ritualistically, while others show up on occasion but would never utter a word or make mention of God outside of the church building.

How did their Christian journey begin? Did they just grow up going to church and identify as a believer and think that means they are saved? Did they hear the gospel, believed, confessed that they believe and demonstrated what they believe by getting baptized? Could it be that they slowly drifted away without even realizing they did?

Do they read the word of God? Do they pray? Do they understand who Jesus is? Do they know He is God who came to earth in the flesh to reconcile man back to Himself? Do they know that there is no shortcut to God and they cannot bypass His son Jesus to get to Him? Listening sometimes to conversations I find that they don't even understand the gospel in full. They're getting into arguments about ongoing conflicts thinking they know the mind of God based on reading a few scriptures. Quoting Bible verses to win an argument and not for edification.

They do not seem to comprehend that man's ways are not God's ways and that He is God all by Himself. Professing Christianity while attacking others also claiming to be Christians but not being Christlike. Not that anyone is perfect but are we forgetting that He knows our every thought. Shouldn't we live with the understanding that we have a God who sits high and looks low. Seeing how we are treating each other as believers all because of our differing political views. Shouldn't our allegiance be to The Almighty God rather than people? Shouldn't we be following Christ?

Are we demonstrating the love of Jesus to draw others to Him while getting involved in these quarrels? Do we think of what our Savior would be saying about them? Would He be pleased with our conduct towards each other as believers?

2 Timothy 3:5 NLT

They will act religious, but they will reject the power that could make them godly. Stay away from people like that!
